The Bella Restaurant (2344 Southwest Englewood (behind the hotel) - 310-345-9955 (Specialty - Italian)

This elegant, intimate restaurant isn't easy to find unless you're staying at the Renaissance and someone points you in the right direction. The regulars are there almost every night because this is one of the best Italian eateries in this corner of the city. The entrees are ordinary Italian, including seafood, meats and creative sauces, prepared in extraordinary ways. Try the classics like Linguine Primavera (fresh vegetables with herb sauce, $6.95), Lasagna with Italian Sausage ($9.50) and spinach-or tomato-stuffed Tortellini (with a choice of marinara or Alfredo sauce, ($6.95). The lasagna was all a hearty eater in our party hoped it would be, with a deep-red sauce that was spicy rather than sugary plus plenty of
cheese and sausage in its multiple layers.
The chef's creativity is evident with such delectable concoctions as Calabrian Tuna (yellow fin tuna grilled and topped with Calabrian salsa, $12.95) and Sicilian Sea Bass with roasted fennel and orange balsamic vinegar sauce ($13.95).

We moved a little further down the nine specialties to investigate the Roasted Pork Tenderloin Tapenade with black currant glaze, grilled polenta and vegetables ($13.95). This was an attractive dish with thick circles of
tender, moist pork tenderloin rolled around a filling tasting of sweet, dark black currants. The vegetables, cooked just enough, added color. The polenta (be careful, it's hot!), which arrived in a triangular shape, was crisp on the outside and creamy-tender on the inside. There are plenty of salads and such for openers, but why not try something different, such as the Antipasto Plate ($7.95), a fragrant and      irresistible arrangement of prosciutto and other Italian meats with roasted peppers, grilled eggplant, tiny olives (with pits) and sliced
cheeses and crackers -- share it with your table, along with conversation and a reasonably priced Chianti off Bella Italia's well-thought-out wine list.

"For sheer comprehensiveness...no lodging guide on the market can beat this one: more that 5,200 hotels, motels, B&Bs, rental cottages, apartments, chalets, and country inns, along with toll-free numbers to call for reservations and free info." NY Daily News

"Isn't just the usual B&B or hotel listing...highly recommended, much more comprehensive in scope than competitors." Bookwatch

"A fine bargain; each guide is concise and packed with descriptions...each does a fine job of covering a host of opportunities in areas typically neglected by travel guides." Midwest Book Review.
"Probably the most extensive listing of accommodations in Florida you will find, this guide covers 4,000 places to stay - renting from $20 to $1,000 a night - and aims to be comprehensive."
