This is a wedding/travel book that lists locations around the world that are unique and exotic places that answer the question: where should we get married or renew our vows and how can we do something different and special? A wedding is one of the most significant events in a person's life, so taking your vows on the island of Hawaii or Tahiti, along the coast of the Italian Riviera, in a castle outside the city limits of Paris or London can be a very special event. Included in this book are the most interesting wedding locations in U.S. and Canadian cities, along the beaches of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, at wedding chapels in Australia and New Zealand, at seaside honeymoon villas in Mexico and at some of the most exotic locations in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Weddings can be held underwater in the Florida Keys, in hot air balloons soaring over the Rocky Mountains, in historic buildings in Europe, on a sand beach somewhere in the Pacific or in a conventional venue in an extra special place. In addition to the obvious audience (people planning on getting married or renewing their vows), this would make a great gift from friends and family. Jack and Jill plan on getting married next year and Hansel and Gretal are going to celebate their 25th wedding anniversary next year, so let's buy them this book!
An opening chapter explains the options, the importance of the event and how to plan ahead. A planner is included along with tips from wedding experts. An assortment of unique wedding vows and poems follows, then the legal requirements that explain what the couple must do to satisfy the paperwork of different states and different countries from locations in South Africa to Switzerland (and every place in-between). Wedding traditions are covered for many countries (how they do it in Japan, Brazil, Russia, on the island of Tahiti, etc.) and we explain average costs for ceremonies and related expenses for different areas of the world. The second half of the book is the Source Chapter-names, addresses, phone numbers, web sites/email addresses for information on all related subjects, include travel information sources for all the locations mentioned in the book. Also included are insurance companies that issue wedding insurance...just in case. We also explain how to set up your own wedding web site using the program we used to create this page...and it's free. A wide assortment of photos are available showing the locations and facilities.
The main section of the book are the wedding locations: U.S. (lots of unique ceremonies in San Francisco, Cape Cod, on an Indian reservation in Arizona, aboard a barge on the Mississippi River, etc.) and Canadian cities; locations in Mexico, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Africa, the U.K., Australia and other countries. We devote one page or more (we have photos and they are optional) per location with an explanation of the facilities, a list of services, cost, how-to-do-it and who to contact. If the reader chooses to have everything taken care of, all-inclusive wedding packages are available from these sources and we explain what they contain. If they choose to do-it-themselves, we supply them with contact sources (photographers, caterers, transportation, local legal sources, etc.) in the area they plan on visiting. We are also the authors of The Great Castle Hotels of Europe (Icarus/Harper and Row) and are contacting these locations about the availability of such services, costs, etc. This book will stimulate the to-be married couples' imagination and offer them some very interesting alternatives to getting married locally. The format is flexible, based on what the publisher feels will make the best selling book.
